Crib sheets

Recently we took a trip to the IKEA in Haarlem to buy Cloud's crib.  The adventure (such as it was) already began while we were travelling there: Transferring to the local train at Haarlem station, we finally found the right track, made our way to the correct platform - and saw the doors of the train closing.  That's ok, I thought to myself, I can just push the door button to open it again, so I told chibijoyce to slow down and not strain herself, then hurried on to press the door button.  Well, I pressed the door button, several times to make sure, but all we got for our pains was the sound of the train conductor's whistle directing everyone to stand back, and the sight of our train departing just steps away from us.

IKEA itself was a success.  The store is so big it appears to have its own train station (certainly there wasn't so much else to see at Haarlem Spaarnwoude) so rather than walk through the entire store we took the shortcut to the food counter (hot dog, milkshake), the shortcut to the children's furniture (crib, mattress), the shortcut to the restaurant (Swedish meatballs, ravioli), and walked through their marketplace (cardboard boxes, towels) before revisiting the food counter (appelflap).  No visit to IKEA is complete without some felt feet and we did our duty in this regard (one packet felt feet).  With fresh memories of carrying back the stroller from Rotterdam by train, we were smart and opted for delivery, set for the next day.  All in all, an efficient and quick shop.

Our adventures resumed as soon as we set foot outside the building: wind, rain, and the sight of our train pulling in to the station just outside of hurrying distance.  To top it all off, once the train had left and we arrived, rained upon and chilled, to the platform, the rain stopped; if only we'd been a few minutes either earlier or later.

The crib itself has been a success.  We set it up with no problem, let the mattress unroll for 3 days, and put on all the bedding that chibijoyce had prepared.  It all fit together perfectly so we passed that test; hooray for crib sheets!

Crib with sheets on it.
3 sets of crib sheets.  Later on, another one was made.  Get the how-to here.
